Quilted Drawstring Tote Bag

This week I've been busy sewing this drawstring tote bag....
quilted drawstring tote bag to be exact.

I'm using stash fabric that available in my collection ...
This time round I choose green and brown color combination.
The size of the bag is about 16"x 14"
The length of the handle is about 20"

This will be my 1st quilted drawstring tote bag that I've sew.
At the end of the string I handsew with crocheted flower
with beads and sequin...

I also sew at the outside of the bag with pink flower
applique to make it more outstanding and interesting...
which I feel without it make the bag look dull.

The inside comes with a holder to be used to hang keys...
especially car keys.
It will be more convenient to have it separate from
other items in the bag.

Basically I don't follow any specific bag pattern.
So I can claim this bag is my own pattern...

Quilt Block for Japan

Last night I've been working on the above block for
Partnership Quilt for 2012 Tokyo Quilt Festival.
Ayumi from Pink Penguin posted about this project in her blog.
Since I'm not an expert in quilting, in fact never even sew any,
this consider my first block for the size 9" x  9"
My plan was to sew the below pattern which I draw it
in a piece of paper before I start cutting the fabric.
Half way through it, I am lost since I don't have the slightest idea on
how to cut and  sew the centre...
At the end, my  block turn out to look like this.
Even though not the same as the pattern,
at least it still carry the theme - triangles and squares.

For those who wish to participate in this project...

Camera holder

This is the latest project completed on Sunday.
Just because the photo was not taken on the same day so I can't post it earlier.

It was made using yarn for camera size 4" x 3"
Nicely fit for my cute Olympus U1040 camera
I used single crochet stitch through out for the casing
and for the flower and leaf I used sc, hdc, dc, trdc and of course chain(ch)

Happy Crocheting!!

Embroidery 101: First Block

On Saturday I start tracing the pattern on the fabric.

Since I need some time to search for my threads ...
(thanks to my unorganise sewing corner),
only on Sunday I start stiching the first block.

and here I share some of the photos
of the completed block.
Happy Stiching!!

Bag

I just love sewing bags ...
The latest project that I accomplished is also a bag...
I used the same pattern as the reversible bag
but with some modification.
This is not a reversible bag ...
I make it bigger in size and the rest all remain the same
as the reversible bag pattern...  velcro for the closure,
with internal pocket for small items, and
with a fabric flower attached at the front.
This time the fabric flower is not a clip,
I sew the fabric flower to the bag permanently...
in other word, you have no choice...
like it or not you have to use the bag with it.
Hope you enjoy viewing and thanks for stopping by !!

Ruffle Coin Purse

I was clearing and reorganised my sewing corner last weekend.
While going through my stash collection, I came across a project
that has been neglected for quite sometime.
A simple coin purse measuring about 4" x 6" square...
To make it interesting rather than just a simple square coin purse,
I add ruffle made from stash fabric and zig zag it with a ribbon on top of it.
And this is how it turn out to looks like...

Embroidery 101 ... Blocks construction

Today I continue to share my journey in following the
 Embroidery 101 Quilt Along...

7th June... I start cutting the fat quarter fabric,
but I don't cut all the fabric.
For today I cut only for a block and I start sew it since
I was so excited to see the result.
So this is my first block that I've contructed and sewed.
The finished size of the block is 171/2"...arggghhh  it turn out
to be smaller by 1" ?? where has it gone wrong..
upon checking I realize that I'm using
the 3"x121/2" for the inner square
and the outer square I used the fabric size 181/2"
As of today 10th June...
I've completed sewed five blocks(and all  turn out to be
 in the  same size 171/2")
and I still have another 4 blocks to finish.
Now I am getting excited to do the embroidery...
which was the main reason  I join this quilt along.
I love embroidery... really looking forward to it ...
counting the days to start with the 1st block.

Embroidery 101:Stitch & Quilt Along

Photobucket
I have been following and joined the
held by Jennie at Clover & Violet.
Today I would like to share my work on progress of the Quilt Along

2nd June - I've started to cut the nine 51/2" white fabric blocks
and sewed them with the 11/2" strips.

3rd June - Place an  order for the 4 pc fat quarter bundle
 from LoveMeLots  online shop.
Since they have limited choice I have to mix and match the
color tone from other designer cotton fabric.
Anyway since this is my first quilt that I learn to sew
I don't give so much focus on the colors.
6th June - Received the fabric that I ordered.
I received 1/2 yard each of the Bamboo Garden in Grey,Dolce
and Lilly in Blue, Dolce by Tanya Whelan.
The 4 pc fat quarter bundle??... hmm I forget to look at the designer name.
I was so excited upon receiving all the fabrics.
Tonight I will start cutting the Fat Quarter Fabric.
Aside from the fabrics that I ordered included in the
parcel were some stash fabrics.
I was so happy with the gift... love it...
Happy Sewing!!
