Another New FO and a finish

Hi Everyone!!

This is my new FO Block that I've started last night week. It is a hexagon pattern block size 12.5" x 12.5" .  I intend to make it into a quilt...which basically I'm not sure for whom.  Most probably it will be just another set of quilt for my daughter.  Since the design and colors are so sweet for a girl... my daughter might love this.

I also did have a finish project for this week.... it is a  Rainbow Whirlygigs Mini Quilt.  I received the free Kit  from Sew Lux Fabrics & Gifts on Friday 17th and excited to give it a try.
Here is the result of the mini quilt...

Quilted Hexagon Bag

Hello everyone!

I have been crazy lately playing with hexagons...in fact I've already prepare a long list of projects that I would like to create using hexagons.

Today I am sharing another quilted bag created using hexagons. Since I am not too satisfied with the result (especially the crooked seam)I am not giving this bag away...( initially I plan to sew this as a  gift for my mum).  I will sew another one for my mum with some modification towards the original pattern.

I used 28 pieces of 2" hexagons. The design of this bag was inspired from this leather hand bag.

It comes with two internal pockets - one for the cell phone and another with the size of 5" x 6" to keep small items. I used velcro as the bag closure. The is how the inside of the bag looks like.

I am sharing this at Sew Lux Fabric & Gifts for December Stitch and Share Challenge.  Click over to their blog and see other projects shared by other talented crafters/sewers. You may also join the fun since the date line will be until 31st of December.

Wish everyone Happy New Year and Happy Sewing!!

Stash Project ...

This week project was a bag made from stash fabric.
This is my first try to sew a quilt bag.
Basically I have nil experience in quilting.
I do a lot of patchwork project but never quilting.

Looking at my work I have to admit that I need to follow
a quilting class to improve further.
Anyway I am happy with the result. Pattern of the bag
is my own...

I am sharing my project by linking to the following parties...

Patchwork Business Card Holder : Tutorial

I used scraps fabric to sew this patchwork business card holder. You don’t need to have a lot of fabric for this pattern.

what you'll need:
exterior fabric
fabric for lining
batting (optional)
scissors
thread
bias tape

1. Cut fabrics into 2.5cm x 6.5cm for 24 pieces

2. Sew 3 pieces together and make a square of 8 blocks. Iron press seam in one direction.

3. Arrange each square alternately.  Sew all the square together. Sew the lining with batting in the middle and start quilting.  Trim the corner of one side(this side will be the folder).

4. Start binding at the lower side first(I forgot to snap photo of this step), then bind the other areas.

5. Fold together and handsew at both side.

9. Sew with snap fastener ... and your card holder is ready.

10. You may also embellish it with flower or other closure such as Velcro, button etc. Mine I embellish with crochet flower with button in the middle.

Patchwork Tote Bag

This is my latest work during the weekend.  A patchwork tote bag for myself... Originally the pattern was from Our Cozy Nest   The different between the original pattern was mine sewn without batting and using ribbon in replace of fabric as the tie on front(which  I've omitted too..)
At the same time, I also give a try to sew a patchwork business card holder from the same fabric.  I am very much love it when my work completed...and of course this is also for my own use. Sewing this business card holder is really easy.  Maybe I shall share the tutorial with you in one of this day.
